All Utah Plumbing, Heating & Airs knows your home’s heating is a fundamental part of modern living, and as technology evolves, so too do our questions about it.
We know it’s hard to keep your place comfortable especially when you don’t know how the furnace, boilers and water heaters work. This goes for home or office.
That’s why we asked our HVAC technicians your most popular questions. View the questions below and click to see the answers.
A furnace works by burning fuel to produce heat, then using a blower to circulate warm air through your home’s ductwork. Thermostats regulate the temperature to keep your space comfortable.
Regular servicing every six months to a year should be enough to keep your system running smoothly. Ideally, before winter season. Regular maintenance prolongs the unit’s lifespan.
The average lifespan of a well maintained furnace is 15 to 20 years, with proper care and maintenance.
In Utah and most places, it’s best to keep your AC at 78°F (25°C) in the summer and 68°F (20°C) in the winter for the most comfortable and energy-efficient experience.
Lowering it by 5-10°F (4-5°C) while you’re sleeping or away can save energy.
A heater running constantly may indicate a thermostat issue, an improperly sized unit, or a lack of proper insulation.
If your heater runs constantly then your system may be too small. There could be a problem that needs fixing. It’s best to consult a professional to diagnose and fix the problem.
